My career began in St. Louis, as a graphic designer for The Composing Room, a traditional typography house, where I mastered typography and desktop publishing skills. I gained invaluable experience while working with some of the top advertising and design firms in the city, and helped launch and lead a new design department, Barking Dog Design.
My reputation grew, and I worked as a freelance designer during this time for clients like Zipatoni, Checkmark Communications (Ralston Purina) and Busch Creative (Anheuser Busch).
An opportunity to learn more about targeting demographics and consumer behavior led me to the marketing research firm of JC Campbell and Associates.
Then the blue waters of Hawaii called, and I became the Art Director for Honolulu’s largest advertising agency, Starr Seigle McCombs. At SSM, I helped to create collateral advertising campaigns for their largest client, the Bank of Hawaii. As Art Director, I used a collaborative team approach to projects, which was so well received that it was soon implemented throughout the company.
After moving to Atlanta, I founded Chris Handley Graphic Design. I enjoyed providing clients with the full spectrum of design skills necessary to create unique artwork from concept to completion. Some of the companies that I provided services for include: US Motivation, BellSouth, Coca-Cola, Equifax, Home Box Office, and Hotel Ventures International.
A few years later, the PR firm of Cohn, Overstreet, and Parrish asked me to come “in-house” as Creative Director and expand the firm’s marketing range to offer design services. At CO&P I learned more about incorporating public relations into marketing, and expanding a brand’s reach across an increasing variety of communication channels.
And now I am the Creative Director for Snowball Creative Group; a company I started in 2009 to bring more specialized design services to my own clients. Working with a team of independent and experienced creative professionals, I can offer a wide range of high quality services that are appropriate to each project, all at competitive rates.
As an industry leader, I’ve received creative awards for art direction of television and print collateral designs, plus I’ve been recognized with local and national awards for a long list of volunteer efforts.
My other passions include fine art photography, cooking, playing guitar, figure drawing, and gardening.
